About Indiana University Anterior Curette 13/14
The 13/14 product on this page is the Indiana University anterior curette pattern. Its earlier generic name created a conflict with Columbia 13/14 and Gracey 13/14, which are different curette families. Using the complete eponym and anterior designation prevents a buyer from ordering the wrong working end.
Indiana University 13/14 Pattern
Indiana University curettes are divided into anterior and posterior patterns. Figure 13/14 is the anterior instrument, while Figure 17/18 is the corresponding posterior pattern. The working end is selected by its blade, toe, cutting edges and terminal-shank geometry—not by the number alone.
This page preserves two active SKUs with the same visible figure. They may differ in handle, finish or production reference, so an approved SKU should be used for repeat orders until those records are fully reconciled.
Avoiding Columbia and Gracey Substitutions
Columbia 13/14 is a universal curette with its own shank and blade design. Gracey 13/14 is an area-specific distal-posterior curette. Neither should be substituted for an Indiana University anterior 13/14 unless a clinical buyer intentionally changes the requested pattern.
Material, Handle and Quality
The reusable instrument is offered in stainless steel. Confirm the material grade, hardness, blade and shank drawing, handle style, finish, passivation, figure marking and packaging with the quotation. We manufacture under ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification.
Inspect the toe, back, cutting edges and shank before use. Sharpen only in a way that preserves the approved universal-curette geometry, and follow the facility's validated cleaning and sterilization procedure.
