About College Tweezers and Dental Cotton Pliers
We use the terms college tweezers and dental cotton pliers interchangeably for the same instrument family — a spring or lock-action tweezer used to place and retrieve cotton rolls, gauze, paper points and small chairside items without bringing your fingers into the working area.
Tip Style and Locking Action
Not every pattern we supply locks. Some rely on spring tension alone and release as soon as you relax your grip; others have a locking pin or ratchet that holds an item until you deliberately release it. Tip angle, serration, and grip width also vary — a finely serrated tip suited to paper points is not the best choice for a folded gauze square. Tell us what the tweezers will mainly hold, because that detail narrows the pattern faster than a length alone.
Available Lengths
Our current range covers 130 mm, 150 mm and 160 mm overall lengths. Length affects reach and balance in the hand rather than grip strength, so choose it based on operator preference and the depth of the field — a 130 mm pattern suits close anterior work, while 150 or 160 mm gives more clearance for posterior access.
Why the Exact SKU Matters
Several of our references share the same stated length but differ in tip form or locking mechanism, so two tweezers both labeled 150 mm are not automatically the same instrument. If you are reordering to match an existing set, send us the SKU from your last invoice, or a photograph of the tip and handle. For a first-time order, tell us the intended use, preferred length, and whether you need a locking or non-locking action.
Material and Finish
We manufacture these in stainless steel with a satin finish, which cuts glare under operatory lighting and holds up well to repeated reprocessing.
Ordering in Bulk
Distributors and clinics standardizing a single pattern across multiple operatories should place one order against a single confirmed SKU rather than ordering by length alone, since a mixed shipment of visually similar tweezers is harder to sort once it arrives. We pack to your specification — individually, in grouped counts, or bulk — and confirm pack quantity and MOQ once the pattern is set.
Inspection and Reprocessing
Before use, check that the tips meet evenly along their full length and that any locking mechanism engages and releases smoothly. A weak spring, crossed tips, or worn serrations are worth flagging for replacement rather than continued service.
