About Ochsenbein Periodontal Chisel
We build the Ochsenbein chisel to reshape and remove bone during periodontal surgery, most often to correct bony architecture, reflect a flap, or make a secondary sulcular incision. Our range covers the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 patterns.
A Surgical, Not a Scaling, Instrument
The curved cutting edge is worked with controlled pressure against the bone crest to reshape interproximal bone into a more physiologic contour after a soft-tissue incision has exposed the surgical site. It belongs on a surgical periodontal tray for osseous recontouring, not a routine scaling setup. The broader Ochsenbein pattern name commonly extends to Fig. 1 through Fig. 4 across the market; we currently supply Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 — tell us if you need additional figures and we will confirm availability.
Ordering and Care
We manufacture in surgical-grade stainless steel, hardened for bone work, with a satin or mirror-polished finish. Multiple patterns are available for bulk and OEM orders; minimum order quantity is confirmed with your quotation. Inspect the curved cutting edge for chips or rounding after bone contact — a dulled edge requires more pressure to reshape bone cleanly, which increases the risk of an uncontrolled cut.
