About Orban Periodontal Instrument
We build the Orban knife as an interdental knife with a narrow, spear-shaped blade used to incise and remove gingival tissue in interproximal spaces a broader knife cannot reach cleanly.
A Narrow, Double-Ended Blade
The slim, pointed blade is typically double-ended with mirror-image sides on a contra-angled shank, giving access to both the mesial and distal interproximal surfaces of the same space without switching instruments. It is commonly used during gingivectomy and gingivoplasty for interproximal tissue our Kirkland knife's wider blade cannot reach.
Pairs With the Kirkland Knife
We recommend the Orban knife specifically for interproximal access; for facial and lingual external-bevel incisions, our Kirkland knife is the broader-blade counterpart. We commonly quote and supply the two together for a complete gingivectomy setup.

The narrow, pointed blade tip is more prone to bending or dulling than a broader blade — inspect tip straightness specifically during cleaning.
