About Root Canal Spreader
The Root Canal Spreader (DIS-DEN-0213) is a single-ended stainless steel hand instrument with a fine, pointed working end, supplied for clinicians and purchasing teams restocking lateral-compaction instruments. Spreaders are designed to compact root-filling material, typically gutta-percha, laterally within the prepared canal, and the pointed tip is what makes that role possible. Because this unit carries one working end, it suits trays and instrument lists that specify an individual spreader rather than a double-ended instrument or a multi-size set.
Knurled grip, angled neck and a fine pointed tip
At 17.5 cm overall, this is a full-length hand spreader. That sets it apart from a finger spreader, which uses a short handle held between the fingertips and is a separate instrument format. If the instrument you are replacing has a compact finger handle, this item is a different form rather than a like-for-like substitute.
The handle is knurled through the grip area, giving it a textured surface that is easy to recognize when sorting instruments back into sets. Past the grip, an angled neck offsets the working end from the line of the handle, and the shaft narrows to a fine, elongated point. That pointed profile is what separates a spreader from flat-ended pluggers that can look similar in a cassette. Check the grip and neck angle against your current instrument as well, since a straight-shank spreader and an offset one are easy to tell apart in hand but not always in a small product image.

Read each specification field on its own
The 17.5 cm figure describes the whole instrument from handle end to tip. It is not the length of the active working portion, and it says nothing about tip diameter. When you compare a replacement with an instrument already in use, keep these attributes apart: overall size, working-portion length, diameter at a stated reference point along the working end, taper, and any nominal size or named pattern. Spreader dimension tables often reference positions such as D1 and D16, and two instruments can share one value while differing at another.
Pattern names need the same care. A given designation can carry different dimensions from one maker to the next, so matching names on two packets do not prove that the working ends are interchangeable. The most dependable reference is the marking on your current instrument read alongside its maker's dimension table, together with the overall format described above. Where an existing spreader has no legible marking, its maker's literature or your original order record is the next best source.
Spreader, plugger or heat carrier
Spreaders and pluggers often sit side by side in an endodontic setup, yet their working ends do different jobs. A spreader tapers to a point for lateral compaction; a plugger ends in a flat or blunt face for vertical compaction. Ordering by handle style or length alone is how the wrong instrument ends up in a set, so confirm the end shape your clinicians expect before anything else.
Heat carriers form another separate category. This instrument is offered as a lateral-compaction spreader, so treat it in that role rather than assuming it doubles as a thermal tool. Accessory gutta-percha cones raise a related question. Cone and spreader dimensions can differ between brands, and a nominal number on each does not guarantee a working pairing. Base the match on the configuration your workflow already relies on.
Ordering DIS-DEN-0213
DIS-DEN-0213 refers to the single-ended hand spreader configuration described here, so state the quantity you need when you order. If your set also calls for pluggers, gutta-percha cones or spreaders in other configurations, list each one in your request. Related hand instruments are grouped in our endodontic instruments range.
For cleaning and sterilization, follow the manufacturer's instructions that apply to this instrument; our ultrasonic processing guide gives general background but does not replace them.
