About Sugarman Periodontal Bone Files

We build Sugarman periodontal bone files to reach interproximal and furcation areas that broader instruments cannot access, using paired cutting surfaces to fracture heavy calculus and smooth root surfaces ahead of curette debridement. Our range covers the Fig. 1S/2S and Fig. 3S/4S patterns.

A File, Not a Curette

The cutting surfaces work by crushing and filing tenacious deposits apart rather than shearing them off in one stroke. A Sugarman file is a companion instrument to a Hirschfeld file and to curettes already on the tray, reached for when direct curette or scaler removal is not enough — not a replacement for either.

Figure Selection and Access

Fig. 1S/2S and Fig. 3S/4S give different terminal-shank angles for interproximal and furcation access; tell us which pattern matches the tooth surface and access angle your case needs before ordering.

Manufacturing and Ordering

We manufacture in surgical-grade stainless steel with a sharpenable edge, satin or mirror polish. Available for manufacturer-direct and bulk supply; minimum order quantity is confirmed with your quotation.

Care

Follow your facility's own validated reprocessing protocol; our dental instrument cleaning and ultrasonic processing guide and our instrument sharpening guide cover general reference workflow.

Requesting a Quote

Tell us the pattern, quantity, finish, and destination market. We manufacture under ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, with material evidence confirmed against the order you place.

Sugarman Periodontal Bone Files Questions

How is the Sugarman file different from the Hirschfeld?

The Sugarman targets interproximal and furcation spaces specifically, making it a companion instrument to the Hirschfeld file rather than a replacement.

What does the "S" in Fig. 1S/2S mean?

It identifies the Sugarman-pattern file reference as distinct from unrelated same-numbered figures in other instrument families — confirm the exact SKU when ordering.

Is a Sugarman file used instead of a curette?

No. It is a companion instrument used ahead of curette or scaler debridement, for tenacious deposits in interproximal and furcation areas those instruments cannot fully remove.

When would I reach for a Sugarman file instead of a curette?

A Sugarman file is a companion instrument, used when direct curette or scaler removal is not enough against tenacious deposits in interproximal or furcation areas — not a replacement for either.

Is the Sugarman file autoclave sterilizable?

Yes. It is surgical-grade stainless steel with a sharpenable edge and reprocesses through standard steam autoclave cycles.
