About Amalgam Carrier, Large Double-Ended

An amalgam carrier picks up amalgam and transfers it to the prepared tooth, where the material is placed. Ours is a large double-ended carrier: one instrument with a working end at each end.

Two working ends

Each working end has a barrel, which holds the material, and a plunger operated by a lever linkage, which pushes the material out for placement. "Double-ended" describes the number of working ends. It does not, by itself, say whether both ends have the same barrel size. "Large" is the named size of this carrier, not a numeric barrel measurement or a measured amount of material.

Carrier or condenser?
