About Bone Files
We build bone files as hand instruments used to smooth sharp or irregular bony edges after an extraction or bone-recontouring procedure, before the surgical site is closed. The fine serrations on the working end are worked in a pull stroke, refining the bone surface without the more aggressive removal a rongeur provides.
A Companion to the Rongeur
We supply bone files as a companion to a rongeur, not a replacement — the rongeur removes bulk bone, and the file smooths the resulting margin. Selecting a file pattern usually follows from whichever rongeur pattern is already on your tray, so we commonly quote the two together.
Material and Ordering
We supply these in surgical-grade stainless steel, hardened for bone contact, in satin or mirror-polished finish. Multiple patterns are available for bulk and OEM orders; minimum order quantity and packaging are confirmed with your quotation. The fine serrations trap bone debris more readily than a smooth-edged instrument, so cleaning should specifically check that the serration grooves are clear before sterilization.
