About Molt #9 Periosteal Elevator
We build the Molt #9 as a double-ended periosteal elevator used to reflect and retract the mucoperiosteal flap after a soft-tissue incision, giving you a clear surgical field before bone work or extraction begins.
Two Ends, Two Steps
The pointed end starts the initial tissue reflection along the incision line; the broader end continues lifting and holds the flap retracted once it is raised. Combining both functions on one instrument means you do not switch instruments between starting and continuing flap reflection.
Choosing Between Periosteal Patterns
The Molt #9 is a widely used general-purpose periosteal pattern for routine flap reflection. If your procedures need a narrower, more delicate working end or a longer reach, our Prichard, Freer, or Williger patterns are better suited — compare against those before standardizing on one elevator for every case.
Material and Ordering
We build this in reusable stainless steel with a satin finish, available as an individual instrument or as part of a specified surgical set. Check both working ends for edge dulling after use — an elevator that has lost its edge tends to tear tissue rather than reflect it cleanly.
